Choosing a calling package is easier when you start from your own habits instead of from the price list. A package that is too small runs out at an awkward time, and one that is too large can waste money. This guide gives you a simple method for picking a plan, and tells you what to confirm before you order.
We do not quote prices in this article because package sizes and prices can change. The packages page always shows the current options.
Step 1: Estimate how many minutes you really use
Look at the past month. Count roughly how many calls you made, and how long they lasted. If you are not sure, use this simple estimate:
- Calls per week multiplied by the average call length in minutes.
- Multiply by four to get a monthly figure.
- Add a margin of about 20 percent for longer conversations.
For example, three calls a week of ten minutes each is about 120 minutes a month. With a margin, you would want a package comfortably above that number.
Step 2: Match the dialer and device
MosipVoIP offers packages for MoSIP and for iTel, and the setup differs. Our MoSIP Dialer page explains the Android-based MoSIP setup, while the iTel Dialer page covers Android and iPhone. If you are undecided, read our MoSIP versus iTel comparison or ask us on WhatsApp.
Step 3: Check your destinations before you buy
Destination availability can depend on the dialer, the package and the route. Before you order, ask whether the countries and number types you call, such as landlines or mobiles, are supported on the package you are considering. Do not assume that every country is included.
Step 4: Check whether you need extra features
If you want your own number to show when you call, read about Custom Caller ID first and confirm how it applies to the package you choose. Custom caller ID has its own conditions, and the guide on why caller ID may not show explains what can limit it.
Step 5: Think about usage pattern, not only size
| Your pattern | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Occasional calls to family | A smaller package may be enough, and you can buy again when needed |
| Regular weekly calls | A mid-sized package with a margin for longer calls |
| Business or frequent calling | A larger package and a check on how many devices you can use, since policies differ by account |
Step 6: Confirm the details with the team
Before you pay, confirm the points that matter to you directly on WhatsApp: how long the minutes last, how activation works and what you will receive after your order. Rules can differ between packages, and the team can give you accurate answers for your account. Our guide to buying MoSIP minutes explains the order steps.
Three worked examples
The occasional caller. Maria calls her parents abroad twice a month for about fifteen minutes each time. That is roughly 30 minutes a month. She adds a margin and looks for a small package, and she will compare it against the size and validity period on the packages page.
The weekly caller. Ahmed calls family on the weekend for about twenty minutes, plus a few short calls during the week. His estimate is around 120 minutes a month. A mid-sized package suits him, and he checks which dialer works on his phone.
The small trader. Sana phones suppliers in two countries most weekdays, about forty minutes a day. That is over 800 minutes a month. She asks about larger packages, the destinations on each, and how many devices may use the account.
These examples are illustrations. Your own numbers will differ, so use the method above with your real calling history.
Questions to ask before paying
- Are my destinations and number types, such as mobile or landline, supported on this package?
- How long do the minutes remain valid after activation?
- How will I receive my account details, and what will I need to do to set up?
- Which dialer and which phone does this package work with?
- What happens if I have a problem during setup?
A trustworthy seller answers these questions directly. If the answers are vague, take that as a warning sign.
Using your minutes wisely after you buy
- Make a short test call first to check quality and number format.
- Use Wi-Fi for long calls so a weak mobile signal does not waste minutes on poor audio.
- Keep a note of the date you started, so you know when validity may end.
- Reorder before you are completely out, if you rely on the service for important calls.
Read customer reviews to see how other customers describe their experience, and remember to check how orders work on the How It Works page.
Next step: Compare the current packages, then place an order or send us your expected monthly usage and we will suggest what to look at.
Frequently asked questions
Is the biggest package always the best value?
Not necessarily. It is only good value if you will use the minutes within the period they are valid. Confirm that period before you buy.
Can I change package later?
You can generally order a different package next time. Ask support if you want to change something on an existing account.
Do I need a separate app for each package type?
MoSIP and iTel packages are used with their respective dialers. Check the package description and the downloads page for the right app.
